C-P Flexible Packaging Invests in 2nd W&H PRIMAFLEX CM flexographic press
Strong growth patterns lead company to invest in 2nd W&H press within 12 months.

LINCOLN, RI, June 2007 – Windmoeller & Hoelscher Corporation announces the sale of a 10-color 52” (1,320 mm) PRIMAFLEX CM flexographic press to C-P Flexible Packaging of York, PA.  This represents C-P Flexible Packaging’s second W&H press after the recent purchase of an 8+2-color 41” (1,050 mm) PRIMAFLEX CM last year. Due to significant growth in the past few years and more expected going forward, Greg Collins, VP of Manufacturing, justifies the additional purchase in explaining, “we needed to plan ahead for that growth and ensure we’d have the capacity and technology to grow as our customer base grows.

The second PRIMAFLEX press is currently being installed at the company’s York, PA facility and will be fully operational next month.

When we first set out to purchase a new flexographic press in the fall of 2005, we did a thorough review of press manufacturers, looking at their designs, service organization, existing installations and price,” Collins continues. “We felt W&H best met our objectives for quality of construction, well planned engineering, ease of operator use and overall project cost.  Based on this work we purchased an 8-color 41” PRIMAFLEX in early 2006.  When our continued business growth demanded additional wider print capacity it was an easy decision on what our next press was going to be… a 52” W&H PRIMAFLEX."

Collins further explains that in acquiring a second W&H press, workforce flexibility and uniformity in maintenance and spare parts is realized. Due to a similarity in controls and operation of the two presses, C-P can readily move personnel between the two PRIMAFLEX s as demand warrants, while simultaneously minimize its parts inventory costs.

The decision to invest in a 10-color press this time around came out of a need to add graphics capability for the ever-increasing complexity of new packaging designs.

C-P Flexible Packaging opened its doors in 1959 and today supplies flexible packaging, shrink sleeve, and roll fed labels to numerous markets including snacks, bakery, candy, pasta, nuts, coffee, lawn and garden, trading cards, health care, and fragrance packaging. The company is known for its exceptional service and high quality flexographic printing.

The 2nd PRIMAFLEX CM purchased by C-P Flexible Packaging includes 10 color decks and a maximum printing width of 50” (1,270 mm).  Production speeds measure up to 1000 fpm (300 m/min) and print repeats range from 14.5” – 31.5” (370 – 800 mm). The press also features W&H’s EASY SET fully automatic impression setting system and the latest generation TURBOCLEAN 600 automatic inking and wash-up system.

Windmoeller & Hoelscher is a leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of flexographic and gravure printing presses, blown and cast film extrusion systems, multi-wall equipment, plastic sack and bag making machines, as well as form-fill-seal machinery for the converting and packaging industry.
