Excelsior Packaging Installs 9-layer FILMEX Cast
Film Line from W&H
Represents W&H’s first North American installation
of the new generation FILMEX
LINCOLN, RI, April 2006 – Windmoeller & Hoelscher Corporation
announces that The Excelsior Packaging Group of Yonkers, NY has completed
the installation of a 9-layer FILMEX Cast Film
Line. Installed in Excelsior’s
Yonkers, NY facility, this FILMEX represents W&H’s
first new generation cast film line in North America.
The FILMEX line has a film width of 106” and includes the
FILMATIC M film winder. Currently configured as a 9-layer system,
the line is capable of up to 28 layers for special applications when
a particular die feed block technology is added.
According to CEO, Ron Shemesh, Excelsior decided to invest in a W&H
cast film line because,
“Excelsior believes this line represents
the pinnacle in cast film extrusion and is the current ‘state
of the art’ in cast filmtechnology. The line can extrude ‘monumental
rates’ of film while maintaining
‘world class’ gauge
control and superior optics and functionality.”
After extensive trials, Excelsior was impressed with the FILMEX line’s
ability to extrude highly
functional and perfectly optical films for
a variety of applications.

Steam cooking systems using
its patented SteamFast technology. Excelsior has sold in excess

FILMEX is W&H’s modular cast film line for PP, barrier,
stretch and specialty film. It is designed
for working widths of 55” – 142” with
a film thickness of 0.4 – 12 mil. Maximum output is
3600 lbs/hr. Windmoeller & Hoelscher
is a leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of flexographic
and gravure printing presses, blown and cast film extrusion systems,
multiwall equipment, plastic sack and bag making machines, as well as
form-fill-seal machinery for the converting and packaging industry. |
