Windmoeller & Hoelscher Presents
Innovative Technologies for Extrusion, Printing and Converting
LINCOLN, RI – “It’s K-Time” – That's the motto of the K2010 in Düsseldorf, the world's largest
trade show for plastics and rubber, where industry experts will meet from October 27th –
November 3rd. Windmoeller & Hoelscher (W&H) will be located in Hall 17, stand A59 and exhibit
a blown film line and flexographic printing press – just two examples of W&H's comprehensive
product range for the production of flexible packaging. W&H subsidiary, BSW (Bag Solutions
Worldwide), will be located at an adjacent stand (Hall 17, Stand C60) and present their PP-woven
sack product range. Simultaneous to the K2010, W&H will welcome visitors to an in-house EXPO at
its Lengerich headquarters for live demonstrations of industry-leading technolgies in film extrusion, package printing and converting. Complimentary shuttle bus service will be available for transport between the Messe Düsseldorf and the W&H Technikum in Lengerich.
The EXPO will include live demonstrations of two VAREX blown film lines, one FILMEX CAST
extrusion line, and also highlight the latest in W&H's extrusion technology, namely the AQUAREX, OPTIMEX and MDO (Machine Direction Orientation) lines. A number of other machines will be
featured, including flexo and gravure presses for package printing, a POLYREX shopping bag
line, an AD CONVERTEX valve bottomer and a POLYTEX tuber for woven PP sacks as well as
other machinery from BSW.
OPTIMEX and AQUAREX – new technologies in blown film
The OPTIMEX is an economical, high-output, 3-layer blown film line that complements the
established VAREX range. Films produced on the OPTIMEX are well suited for a wide spectrum
of applications, including packaging, carrier bags, laminations and shrink- and stretch hoods.
The OPTIMEX is manufactured in Germany with the precision and quality expected from W&H,
and combines the latest in extrusion technology with a defined line specification for the production
of perfect films at an attractive price.
The AQUAREX is a new branch of the W&H blown film line family that literally turns extrusion
up-side down! The AQUAREX „up-side-down wet“ blows film downwards and uses water instead
of air to quench the bubble. The result is soft film with high clarity and gloss, and exceptional
puncture- and tear-resistance, that can be used for barrier films and medical applications.
According to a study from the US-based Freedonia Group, global demand for flexible packaging
will increase by 3.5% from 16 million tons in 2008 to nearly 19.5 million tons in 2013. Researchers predict the fastest growth to occur in the developing regions of Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe
and the Near East. W&H has contributed to this growth by designing cutting-edge, high-quality
equipment that meets the needs of these emerging markets in terms of price, performance and
function. The OPTIMEX blown film line, MIRAFLEX A flexographic press and HELIOSTAR S gravure
press are primary examples.
Windmoeller & Hoelscher is an international leader in the design, manufacturing and distribution of machinery for the flexible packaging industry and is based in Lengerich, Germany. The product range includes flexographic and gravure printing presses, blown and cast film extrusion systems, multiwall equipment, plastic sack and bag making machines, as well as form-fill-seal machinery. |
