Windmoeller & Hoelscher receives
GOLDEN Award for Print Motif
LINCOLN, RI, June 2008 – The German machine Manufacturer Windmöller & Hölscher
(W&H) received the EFTA Technical Achievement Award in Gold. The
prize was awarded for a print motif, not for a flexo printing press
or a newly developed technical component. The jury made the decision
to present W&H with the award for the extraordinary superior quality
of this 7-color print motif, printed on the C.I. flexo printing press
ASTRAFLEX , at speeds of 3,280 ft/min. (1.000m/min.)
Markus Bauschulte, W&H Technical Sales Executive, Printing Presses
and Finishing Equipment, accepted the award on behalf of the participating
partners during this year’s EFTA Annual Print Awards, held in Leeds,
UK. The awards ceremony was the crowning event in which 600 printing
experts participated at W&H’s printing press lab during the in-house
EXPO at K 2007.
The winning print motif had been developed by W&H in cooperation
with the Flint Group, SunChemical and ABC Packmedia, providing the
requirements for this superior print motif produced at the demonstrated
print speed. As the production conditions are not yet an industrial
standard, the jury recognized them as a specialized technical achievement.
Starting with a special 7-color color separation half tone reproduction
job, with ultimate screen screen management by ABC-Pack Media, the Flint
Group provided the necessary printing plates. Photopolymer Infinity series sleeves were
used. SunChemical supplied their newly developed NC series high speed
inks.
W&H fitted the ASTRAFLEX with more powerful drives, modified
the controls, etc. for the high speed demonstration to run this superior
print motif using the products chosen by the partners.
W&H is very excited about having won the EFTA Gold Award in recognition
of our achievement. They are well aware that this print speed is only
possible for a small number of printing companies who have the necessary
equipment in their plant. The majority of printing companies are looking
for shorter make-ready times, waste reduction and increased efficiency.
These are the most important R&D issues for W&H when developing
and manufacturing new equipment.
“The knowledge gained during this high speed production will, of course,
be integrated into our batch production – the same way as formula 1”,
explained Markus Bauschulte after the awards.
The superior quality of the high speed print motif, is further emphasized
because the Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) selected it for
an award in the “Flexibles, Film, Surface Print” category during their
Annual Conference in Dallas, TX. |
