HELIOSTAR S and MIRAFLEX C:
Two New Presses for Package Printing

LINCOLN, RI, April 2008  –  HELIOSTAR S and MIRAFLEX C are two new printing presses which
will be presented to the public at the drupa 2008 by Windmoeller & Hoelscher (W&H). The drupa International Show offers the perfect venue to introduce the newly developed HELIOSTAR S to
the industry. The MIRAFLEX C was already introduced at the interpack.

Fast, reliable job change-overs are the hallmark of the new HELIOSTAR S rotogravure press.
The SL version is available as a shaftless cylinder model and the SH version uses hollow sleeves.
The HELIOSTAR S can be fitted with up to 12 print stations which are designed for maximum
printing speeds of up to 1,312 ft/min.  This rotogravure press offers cost-effective printing of flexible packaging materials such as plastic films, paper, aluminum foil or laminates. Maximum printing
width is 51” with a print repeat of 36”.

The HELIOSTAR S is of modular design which allows the customer to customize the press with
inline systems such as web turning station, pre-conditioning units or dryer variations. Standard equipment includes high power servo direct drives for each station, providing precise register
accuracy during printing and also when accelerating or decelerating.

Components such as side change sleeve-type impression rollers, doctor blades with fast adjustment and quick coupling, efficient drying units, inking systems with special driven inking rollers as well
as ergonomic operating components are the distinguishing features of the HELIOSTAR S. You can customize your press with the optional EASY-SYNC system, designed for fast synchronization of both
side and longitudinal register. Using EASY-SYNC – register is obtained quickly and automatically with minimum waste.

The new MIRAFLEX C sleeve flexo press is another highlight at drupa 2008 and will also be on
W&H’s stand in Hall 15. Superior print quality, comprehensive automation and innovative components,
as well as ease of operation are the features of this newest member of W&H’s family of direct drive
flexo presses.

One of the new innovative features is the sleeve type nip roller before the first printing deck which
allows the nip roll to be changed from film to paper or to tube production very quickly and easily.
Manually operated bearing blocks allow fast, reliable plate and anilox sleeve change-over. The new
flexo press can be supplied with 8 or 10 color decks with printing widths of 39” – 57”. The maximum
print repeat length is 1,640 ft/min.

You can customize the MIRAFELEX C using various automation modules that offer shorter make-ready times and which reduce print waste considerably. The automatic EASY-SET impression setting
system, the patented EASY REG register setting system or TURBOCLEAN ink supply and wash-up system are also available optionally.

Parallel to drupa, the W&H in-house EXPO in Lengerich from 2nd to 6th June will, for the first time, demonstrate other advanced new developments in the flexo and rotogravure sector focused on
improving productivity. In total, 5 printing presses and 3 blown film extrusion lines will be ready demonstrated.
